Can I have a custom home page displaying some information about the site and not showing the ad categories?

Yes, you can. Here is how to do this : Create "Extra Page" in Admin Area named "index". It will be the main page of the site automatically. You can use blocks like b_Featured_Matrix, b_Latest_Ads_Browse from browse.htm at this extra page to display Latest Ads and Featured Ads similar to the original home page. | |
