How can I have image thumbnails of better quality ?

Image resizing quality can be specified in Admin Area -> Application Setup - "JPEG resizing quality" option (see at the bottom).

We recommend to enable ImageMagick for images resizing. ImageMagick produces images of better quality, it is an external process and is not subject to PHP's memory limits.
If it's not detected from Admin Area you may want to ask your hosting admin to install it.
